Joel’s desire to help people become better managers of the finances entrusted to them is driven by the strong conviction that because God owns everything, every financial decision is important. Leaving the education profession in 1989 to begin a financial service practice did not bring an end to teaching. Joel is a teacher to many of his clients by giving them information, ideas, and concepts to help them make decisions that they would not be comfortable making on their own.

While growing up on a farm in central California, Joel attended elementary and high school in Denair. His undergraduate degree is from Seattle Pacific College and his master’s degree is from Biola University. His ability to help people make suitable financial decisions comes from a combination of classroom training, independent study, hands-on experience, attending classes and seminars, regularly networking with other professionals and applying biblical principles.

He spent five years as a financial planner with American Express subsidiary IDS Financial Services (now called Ameriprise Financial). While there, Joel was chosen with 30 other IDS professionals from across the nation to serve on a design team to completely redesign the corporation. The design process took 14 months. Approximately every other week was spent in Minneapolis, or visiting offices in other cities, as the process of Organizational Systems Design was used to design a "new" company.

In January of 1995, Joel began an independent financial practice. Being an independent representative allows him to offer enhanced services and it increases the choices he has available to address clients' needs. Joel is a Financial Advisor and Registered Representative with FSC Securities Corporation. FSC has been effectively navigating the changing wealth management industry for more than 60 years. FSC's 800 financial professionals are part of the larger, 11,000 strong Advisor Group community.

Being with FSC is an asset to Joel's financial advising practice and to his clients. An entire range of nonproprietary strategies are available as Joel networks with other financial professionals and strong corporations to provide practical, quality answers to important financial issues.
